Viae LLC builds safety intelligence tools for the freight industry. We compute what FMCSA doesn't publish — giving carriers, brokers, and shippers the data they need to make informed safety decisions.
What we do
FMCSA publishes carrier safety measures and alert flags through their public data portal. But they don't publish the percentile rank — the number that determines whether a carrier is above or below the intervention threshold relative to their peers.
We compute that percentile using FMCSA's published SMS Methodology — the same Safety Event Groups and severity weights FMCSA publishes. We re-check our results against FMCSA's published alert flags every month, and when the data can't support a reliable number we suppress it rather than guess.
Why we exist
Every carrier in the US has a safety score that affects their access to freight, their insurance premiums, and their regulatory risk. But most carriers can't see their own score. They see measures and alert flags — not the percentile rank that brokers, shippers, and insurers actually use to evaluate them.
We believe carriers deserve to see the same number their counterparties see. And we believe brokers deserve documented proof that they vetted carriers responsibly. That's what we build.
